About the position

The Client System Performance Architect at Dell is responsible for applied research and advanced engineering in the development of new products, materials, or processes. This role involves understanding the industry and competitive environment to derive technology and product strategies. The architect will lead technology investigations, perform strategic analyses, and develop recommendations that influence product strategy and definitions. The position requires collaboration with design teams, systems engineering, marketing teams, suppliers, and business leaders to ensure product architecture meets Dell's standards for leadership in technology.

Responsibilities

• Establish system performance requirements and optimize products to meet those requirements.
• Validate that products meet performance requirements throughout development.
• Collaborate with internal and external development teams to deliver innovative solutions for PCs.
• Utilize performance metric tools, software optimization techniques, and benchmarking processes.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Project future performance trends and develop strategies to meet evolving requirements.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of system and x86 processor architecture.
• Strong understanding of balancing power, thermals, and acoustics to optimize system performance and user experience.
• Proven track record of evaluating performance impacts of new hardware, firmware, and software features.
• Experience working with major silicon vendors and leveraging their latest technologies.
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative, multi-functional team environment.

Nice-to-haves

• BS in Computer Engineering or similar field with 7-10+ years of experience; a graduate degree is a plus.
• Experience with defining and implementing policies into ML algorithms for dynamic system performance optimization.
