About the position

As a System Safety Engineer (Maritime) at Anduril Industries, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of maritime systems, particularly focusing on Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). This position involves leading various safety assessments, hazard analyses, and risk management activities while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with U.S. Government safety standards. Your expertise will contribute to the development of safety processes and reports that enhance the design, manufacturing, and deployment of advanced defense technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Functional Hazard Analysis, Fault Trees, Risk Management and Risk Mitigation activities.
  • Support hardware and software development teams in identifying safety-critical items.
  • Draft Built In Test Plans and support Reliability Engineering on Qualification Test Plan Development.
  • Document and manage all risks and hazards from Reliability Safety Exercises.
  • Lead and draft the Program System Safety Analysis Reports.
  • Support Design Requirements Process as a Subject Matter Expert for safety best practices.
  • Coordinate risk mitigation with stakeholders during product End-To-End Plans.
  • Host corrective action reviews to communicate lessons learned and ensure timely implementation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years Industry Experience as a System Safety Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Design Engineer, or Development Engineer.
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics.
  • Experience with Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Operations and Test.
  • High Pressure System Experience.
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis Experience (FMEA).
  • Fault Tree Analysis Experience (FTA).
  • Functional Hazard Analysis Experience (FHA).
  • Experience drafting SOP Procedures and Technical Writing for Logistics, Maintenance, and/or Field Teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis Methodologies and Corrective action management.
  • Modeling/CAD Experience.
  • Familiarity with Electrical Engineering schematics and best practices for Reliability.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1629, MIL-STD-882.
