About the position

At the University of Minnesota, University Services, our vision is to provide exceptional and welcoming campuses that are safe and reliable for all who learn, live, work, and visit. We are seeking a System/Server Administrator to join our IT team, primarily focusing on supporting Parking & Transportation Services (PTS). PTS is responsible for the administration, operation, and maintenance of reliable and efficient transportation services on the Twin Cities campus. This role is critical in ensuring that IT systems, software, hardware, and servers are configured, installed, monitored, upgraded, and maintained effectively to support the operations of PTS. We value learning, innovation, and professional growth and are committed to supporting our team members in their development. The System/Server Administrator will administer the implementation and operation of parking access and revenue control system (PARCS) components and servers, collaborating with vendors and business resources to integrate PARCS with existing systems. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation, responding to critical system issues during non-business hours. The administrator will also be responsible for maintaining the operating efficiency and stability, security, and integrity of all data and systems, performing administration of basic user access, and optimizing remote access and security access. Additionally, the role involves planning, designing, and scheduling the release and updates of all software, hardware, and operating systems. The successful candidate will develop minor programming (Powershell; Bash), automation, and scripting to support business continuity and operations, administer workstation and printer support, and provide proactive server administration and maintenance support. This includes reviewing OS logs, Splunk dashboards, and vulnerability management. The administrator will also provide resolution to incidents and problems, ensuring proper documentation and process modification in response to service outages and failures.
