We are seeking a System/Server Administrator to join our IT team, primarily focusing on supporting Parking & Transportation Services (PTS). PTS is responsible for the administration, operation, and maintenance of reliable and efficient transportation services on the Twin Cities campus. This role is critical in ensuring that the IT systems, software, hardware, and servers that support PTS operations are configured, installed, monitored, upgraded, and maintained effectively. The System/Server Administrator will administer the implementation and operation of parking access and revenue control system (PARCS) components and servers, which includes parking facility lane administration and support. The role requires collaboration with vendors and business resources to integrate PARCS with existing systems. Additionally, the administrator will participate in an on-call rotation, responding to critical system issues during non-business hours to resolve production problems. The position also involves maintaining the operating efficiency and stability, security, and integrity of all data and systems, as well as performing administration of basic user access and optimizing remote access and security access. The successful candidate will develop minor programming (Powershell; Bash), automation, and scripting to support business continuity and operations. They will also provide proactive server administration and maintenance support, including reviewing OS logs, Splunk dashboards, and vulnerability management. The administrator will be responsible for resolving incidents and problems, creating post-mortem documentation, conducting root cause analysis, and modifying processes in response to service outages and failures. The role requires alignment with change management processes and standards, ensuring that all changes are made following established procedures. The administrator will interact with Product Owners and customers to ensure that functional service requirements are met with the appropriate technical resources, and will optimize and monitor performance metrics using standard tools to maintain or exceed expected performance levels. Scheduled maintenance activities will also be part of the role, including planned work outside of business hours. Keeping current on industry standards and emerging technologies, such as cloud-based application solutions for parking and security camera options, is essential. The administrator will develop, perform, and document tests for systems/servers and databases, along with other duties as assigned.
