About the position

The Systems Engineer role at Grid Solutions involves a cross-functional approach to engineering, focusing on the design, creation, and optimization of systems that meet both business and technical needs. The position requires a balance of technical expertise and customer interaction, with responsibilities spanning from modeling and performing studies to developing new HVDC technologies and representing the business in external events. The role is integral to ensuring the delivery of quality products that align with user requirements and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Model and perform studies; deliver study reports.
  • Provide technical guidance to peers in areas of expertise.
  • Engage in customer-facing responsibilities.
  • Develop and industrialize solution tools and processes associated with engineering activities.
  • Create design guides and implement control and protection solutions for HVDC technologies.
  • Represent the business in external events by publishing technical papers or participating in working groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in network or transient studies for HVDC/FACTS/Renewable Energy/Inverter based Power Systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20%, including international travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering with a focus on power systems and power electronics.
  • Knowledge of system tools such as SIMULINK MATLAB, DSAT.
  • Experience with RAM Studies and in-depth system studies including Grid Compliance and Transmission network planning.
  • Strong knowledge of High Voltage substation North American standards & guidelines.
