The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is seeking a System Supply Chain Logistic Director to manage and direct the Materials Management logistic functions across its hospitals and clinical offices. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient, timely, and cost-effective acquisition of supplies utilized throughout the system. The director will oversee the acquisition, distribution, utilization, and disposal of supplies and services, ensuring that the correct products are available at the right time and place to meet end-user needs. This position will also involve directing Supply Chain leadership at each hospital to align and standardize daily operating procedures, maximizing the use of MMIS systems and support technology such as handheld devices. The director will be responsible for managing an annual spend of approximately $800 million, which includes services such as printing and mail services. In this role, the director will provide guidance and general direction for department operations, working through management staff to ensure accurate and timely production of work. They will formulate operating policies and procedures to support UMMS's mission of patient care, teaching, and research. The director will act as the primary leadership representative within the hospital for the UMMS Supply Chain Management group, ensuring effective communication and implementation of essential policies and procedures. They will also participate in Supply Chain councils to optimize resource utilization and create service standards and performance indicators for receiving, distribution, and inventory management. The director will directly supervise Supply Chain management staff, ensuring appropriate administration of policies and procedures, and will be responsible for hiring, training, and performance reviews. They will prepare and administer operational and capital expenditure budgets for the Materials Management department, monitoring expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility. Additionally, the director will conduct regular audits to ensure optimal operation and economic efficiency of hospital inventories and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
