About the position

The System Support Analyst position is responsible for providing comprehensive end-user hardware and software support, local area network assistance, and specialized application support within the Division of Information Technology. This role involves consulting with users to analyze their technological needs, troubleshooting network issues, and delivering training to faculty, staff, and students. The analyst will also engage in administrative duties to enhance user services and collaborate with team members to maintain system continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end user hardware device support, including installation, configuration, and upgrading of software and maintenance of hardware.
  • Investigate and resolve local area network issues, collaborating with LAN engineers and network analysts as needed.
  • Offer specialized support for university-supported email applications and second-tier support for approved software.
  • Conduct one-on-one training for faculty, staff, and students on operating systems and software usage, as well as mentoring other technical staff.
  • Create, plan, test, implement, and document projects to improve user services and maintain knowledge of new technologies.
  • Collaborate with team members and support groups to ensure continuity in system management and IT service management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience supporting computer device hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Macintosh support experience.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
  • Familiarity with computer management systems such as Configuration Manager and JAMF.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Experience in an enterprise-level IT environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
