About the position

The System Test Planning Engineer at HP Inc. is responsible for designing, implementing, and executing comprehensive testing strategies to ensure product excellence. This role involves monitoring testing progress, analyzing results, and collaborating with developers and product managers to deliver software that meets user expectations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Designs quality assurance and test processes for subsystems of end-user applications, systems software, and firmware.
  • Analyzes design and determines test scripts, coding, automation, and integration activities required based on objectives and architecture knowledge.
  • Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned application portions.
  • Identifies, debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into software and firmware architecture.
  • Performs code reviews and participates in design discussions to identify potential quality issues.
  • Analyzes testing processes and suggests improvements for enhancing QA activities.
  • Leads a project team of software quality assurance engineers and development partners to develop testing and quality assurance solutions.
  • Collaborates and communicates with management and development partners regarding test status and project progress.
  • Represents the software quality assurance team for all phases of larger development projects.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Requirements

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • Typically has 4-7 years of work experience in software quality assurance or related field.
