About the position

Odyssey Systems has an exciting new opportunity for a Systems Acquisition Manager, Senior supporting the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO) at Beavercreek, Ohio. This position involves a range of responsibilities that are critical to the success of various project and program initiatives. The successful candidate will perform duties that include investigating, analyzing, planning, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating solutions for project and program efforts. The role requires providing expert-level issue resolution and recommendation support to achieve desired program outcomes, with specialized expertise in functional areas such as logistics, maintenance, supply chain management, financial management, security management, information management, and contracting. The Systems Acquisition Manager will independently apply knowledge of DoD acquisition processes and analytical methods to gather, analyze, and evaluate information required by program or project managers and customers. This includes drawing conclusions and devising solutions to problems related to the improvement of acquisition effectiveness and compliance. The candidate will be responsible for developing and drafting acquisition documentation, ensuring quality control, and performing work measurement studies, program or operations efficiency reviews, cost studies, or workload change impact analyses. The role also involves utilizing automated management information systems for fact-finding, analytical, and advisory functions. In addition, the candidate will apply their knowledge and experience in acquisition program management philosophy, policies, and procedures to procure AF systems, subsystems, and equipment throughout their lifecycles. The position requires planning, organizing, and assisting in managing critical aspects of the development, modernization, production, logistics, and deployment of systems, subsystems, and equipment. The Systems Acquisition Manager will provide assistance to support the full spectrum of actions required to award contracts, including risk management, conducting analyses, assisting in acquisition strategy planning, and supporting the source selection process. The role also includes assisting in milestone planning, tracking, scheduling, briefing preparation, and staff coordination. The candidate will support the customer in creating decision documentation, program briefings, schedule management, and participate in management reviews, coordinating activities leading to milestone reviews. Furthermore, the candidate will assist in the implementation of weapon system prime contractor performance and the development of key program metrics, performing periodic reviews to identify potential issues for Government consideration. The position requires providing support for technical program management and planning, acquisition support, and weapon system logistics support, effectively communicating recommendations to higher organizational management, and participating in various Integrated Product Team (IPT) actions. The candidate will also assist in the development of acquisition strategies that integrate cost, schedule, and performance risk of technologies needed to field modernization combat capabilities, focusing on Increment 3.2B and Mandates programs. Overall, this role is pivotal in ensuring the successful management and execution of acquisition programs within the Air Force.

Responsibilities

  • Provide program management support as required for aircraft sustainment, modernization, and/or integration activities.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, five years of which must be in the DoD; OR a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, five of which must be in the DoD; OR 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, eight of which must be in the DoD.
  • Must possess program management experience with a current aircraft system in modernization/sustainment phase.
