About the position

The IT Systems Administrator will support classified lab environments utilizing Linux and Windows networked systems. This role involves setting up and managing Linux servers and workstations, as well as some experience with Microsoft Windows Active Directory and Exchange services. The successful candidate will lead in building, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting both Linux and Windows servers, while also designing and implementing workgroup-scale networks to meet customer requirements. The position requires collaboration with security staff to ensure compliance with various standards and documentation of system configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers and user workstation hardware and software.
  • Design and implement workgroup-scale networks.
  • Build and manage authentication, file-share, and collaboration servers for heterogeneous client systems.
  • Work with facilities security staff to develop and apply hardening steps for classified systems.
  • Document system configuration for new and existing systems.
  • Respond to occasional off-hours outages and participate in service restoration efforts.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise-level Linux and/or Windows Server operating environments.
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory, Group Policy Management, SharePoint, and Exchange services.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and Microsoft Networking concepts.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and Windows interoperability services.
  • Familiarity with centralized authentication technologies such as LDAP and Active Directory domains.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with virtual machine technologies (ESXi, VCenter, VSphere).
  • Knowledge of NetApp Management.
  • Experience with PXE and WDS automated system installation technologies.
  • Familiarity with automated backup systems.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Unix shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (Subversion, ClearCase).
  • CISSP certification.
