About the position

The Systems Administrator III at Astronics is responsible for the planning, design, installation, maintenance, and management of networking and infrastructure systems. This role requires a deep understanding of IP data networks, computing systems, and security protocols, ensuring the security and efficiency of the computing environment. The position involves troubleshooting, user administration, and providing expert support to various business systems, while also participating in the design and planning of IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and provide troubleshooting support for local and wide area networks, ERP applications, email, internet access, and other office automation systems.
  • Provide expert support to the business systems database environment.
  • Administer user accounts for Astronics applications.
  • Ensure the security of the computing and network infrastructure and address recovery and redundancy issues.
  • Participate in the planning and design of computing and network infrastructure.
  • Monitor performance of networks and servers to identify potential problems.
  • Support helpdesk and less experienced systems administrators.
  • Analyze complex business needs and recommend technical solutions.
  • Promote code changes to live systems using a Source Code Management application.
  • Develop and maintain backup procedures and records for all data and systems.
  • Establish standards and procedures for system security to minimize risks.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws regarding IT resources and software licensing.
  • Maintain inventory of IT systems, software, and hardware.
  • Anticipate future network needs and identify proactive solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between business units and IT, communicating technical information.
  • Provide solutions to user problems on laptops and desktop systems.
  • Establish user procedures and provide training for all systems as needed.
  • Assist in documentation of standards and methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 4 or more years of systems administrator experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in database management.
  • Demonstrated competency with SQL Server Database Management.
  • Experience in the design, planning, and execution of technology infrastructures preferred.
  • Experience with Data Warehouses, Azure Data Services, Power BI, and SSRS administration.
  • Excellent knowledge of database backups, recovery, optimization, and security.
  • Experience in SQL and PowerShell is required.
  • Experience in Source Code Management Systems is required.
  • Experience in change management is highly desired.
  • Experience with implementation of information technology on a departmental and/or corporate level is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors, clients, and business partners.
