About the position

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for managing and administering the RedHat OpenShift Container Platform infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance of the system. This role involves collaboration with development teams to containerize applications, manage security, and optimize the infrastructure for stateful workloads. The engineer will also handle various tools and technologies related to continuous integration and deployment, database management, and monitoring, while ensuring adherence to best practices in security and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Create, configure, and maintain RedHat OpenShift Container Platform in on-premises BareMetal and VMWARE environments.
• Manage and administer RedHat OpenShift Container Platform services like Operators, OpenShift Data Foundation, and Pipelines.
• Collaborate with the Development team in containerizing applications and addressing vulnerabilities identified in scans.
• Set up authentication methods and manage user accounts using Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
• Configure and manage networking within the cluster, ensuring application communication.
• Manage OpenShift Container Storage for stateful workloads and data services.
• Keep OpenShift clusters up to date and optimize performance by fine-tuning configurations.
• Administer on-premises Elasticsearch clusters, including deployment and configuration.
• Secure access to the Elasticsearch cluster and troubleshoot issues.
• Build and administer Apache/Confluent Kafka messaging platform.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD systems using tools like Git, GitHub, Jenkins, and Helm.
• Maintain GitLab version control system and manage repositories and permissions.
• Perform installation and administration of PostgreSQL database.
• Install and manage monitoring tools like Grafana/Prometheus in OpenShift clusters.
• Implement concepts of Big Data ecosystem such as Hadoop.
• Write Helm Charts, Kubernetes manifest files, and Docker files.
• Identify new tools/technologies for improving release and SCM processes.
• Continuously evaluate platform for security hardening and improvements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in provisioning, managing, and deploying containerized applications using RedHat OpenShift Container Platform.
• Strong experience with RedHat OpenShift Container Platform services including Operators, OpenShift Data Foundation, and Pipelines.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and Podman.
• Experience with Elasticsearch and PostgreSQL database administration.
• Familiarity with Jenkins and GitLab for CI/CD processes.
• Experience with Apache/Confluent Kafka messaging platform.
• Knowledge of Linux/Windows system administration.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
