About the position

The position involves deploying, configuring, and maintaining Linux operating systems for workstations and servers. The role requires providing ongoing support and troubleshooting for Linux environments, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity measures, and maintaining system performance and security. The candidate will also document operational processes and respond to support requests, including after-hours support and on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Workstation and Server Linux OS
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for Linux environments
  • Utilize configuration management tools to ensure systems are patched and compliant
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures in accordance with DoD and U.S. Government requirements
  • Continuous oversight of system performance and security
  • Provide hardware support for systems within environments and air-gapped lab systems
  • Document operational processes, configurations, and system architectures
  • Respond to support requests through Jira issue tracking
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support after hours outages
  • Carry/respond to pager while onsite
  • Provide periodic after hours support for patching and maintenance windows

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Secret Clearance or higher
  • Experience with Linux server and workstation systems administration on Red Hat based distributions
  • Break/fix troubleshooting experience
  • Provisioning via Satellite, Kickstart, or Foreman
  • Network infrastructure services setup and maintenance of DNS, DHCP
  • Network storage services setup and maintenance of NFS, automounts, SMB/Samba
  • Privilege escalation management experience
  • Security+ certification
  • Experience with centralized authentication systems
  • Some shell scripting experience (sh/bash or csh/tcsh)
  • System hardening and auditing to RMF, CMMC, DFARS, NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53
  • Configuration management with Ansible/Ansible Automation Platform, AWX, puppet, or chef
  • Centralized authentication setup and user/group management (FreeIPA, IDM, Kerberos, LDAP, NIS)
  • Code repository administration of git, GitLab, GitHub, SVN
  • Scripting in modern languages (Python, Perl)
  • Basic network administration of layer 2/3 switches
  • Supporting multi-OS environments of Linux, Windows, Solaris, and embedded OSs
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools (Kubernetes, OpenShift, TeamCity, Docker, Jenkins)
  • Experience in building/utilizing CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with cloud platforms
  • Certifications RHCSA, RHCE, RHCSS, RHCDS, Security+, CISSP, CISM
  • Deep understanding of metrics and monitoring systems
  • Experience performing log analysis and other network forensic investigations
  • Deep expertise troubleshooting complex distributed systems
  • Experience with creating and improving documented procedures and/or playbooks
