About the position

NewGen Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Systems Administrator with an active TS/SCI clearance and polygraph for a long-term project in Northern Virginia. The role involves supporting the hardware and software infrastructure for an enterprise team, requiring a broad knowledge of hardware maintenance, system administration, automation technologies, and scripting. The position also emphasizes security practices and collaboration with various enterprise resources to maintain a digitization infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Perform general system administration activities including user account creation, implementation of security policy, hardware installation, driver installation, software patching, monitoring activity logs, and creating automation scripts.
• Provide tier 1 technical support to approximately 20 users.
• Maintain and care for digitization hardware, including installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
• Make objective and technically sound recommendations for potential future hardware and software purchases.
• Analyze production metrics and data to provide data-driven recommendations to management for continual process improvements.
• Generate weekly, monthly, and yearly metrics reports.
• Learn, support, and train users on different types of digitization hardware.

Requirements

• Must have AWS experience
• Must have Linux experience
• Patch and maintain system's databases, including RDS, MySQL, and Oracle
• Experience using a scripting language
• Demonstrated ability to monitor and troubleshoot enterprise workflow applications, including installing, starting, and stopping background processes, analyzing log and event files, and patching and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated ability creating and managing a virtual infrastructure, such as AWS, Azure, Hyper-V, or VMWare.
