About the position

The Systems Administrator (Linux) position at Leidos involves managing enterprise computer systems and networks, focusing on technical issue analysis and the implementation of corrective actions. The role emphasizes collaboration within small teams to support mission operations through innovative approaches and rapid prototyping. The ideal candidate will have a strong mission focus and a passion for developing smarter solutions to enhance operational capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Actively manage enterprise computer systems and networks, analyzing technical issues and developing corrective actions.
  • Observe and interpret visual outputs indicating the operating status of systems and network components.
  • Translate user requests into technical diagnoses and develop solutions to meet user needs.
  • Develop strategies to migrate existing customers to new architecture/technology with minimal impact.
  • Evaluate new technologies or equipment for potential integration into Agency standard solutions.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, or high school diploma/GED plus 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Degree must be in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in computer or information systems design/development, programming, information/cyber/network security, vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, computer forensics, information assurance, and/or systems engineering.
  • Strong Linux experience is a firm requirement.
  • Experience in systems/network administration, application administration, and/or IT support or management.
  • Experience supporting hardware installation, such as servers and network infrastructure.
  • Experience setting up storage such as network-attached storage.
  • Experience implementing security best practices including PKI certificate generation, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Unix shell scripting languages like Bash, Bourne, or C.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience deploying and maintaining nginx.
  • Familiarity with Docker and RedHat Satellite.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing environments like AWS.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) products like Terraform, SALT, and Ansible, as well as system monitoring platforms like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Experience with SELinux and FIPS.
