About the position

The Systems Administrator for NISSC II at Amentum supports the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) by managing and maintaining critical mission systems related to space operations and surveillance. This role involves technical system implementation, troubleshooting, and providing guidance to team members, ensuring the operational integrity of systems used for threat assessment and space defense.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and maintains various technical systems, providing guidance and training to others in the group.
  • Serves as a backup to the lead computer systems administrator.
  • Builds and debugs complicated hardware and software to resolve difficult problems using advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Develops and implements system documentation and operating procedures, identifying and correcting processing anomalies.
  • Operates, monitors, and documents abnormalities for SPADOC/SPEARR systems, servers, clients, and peripheral devices.
  • Receives training as a Space Program Analyst.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled Initial Program loads (IPLs) and system failovers.
  • Coordinates with system lead SMEs, maintenance personnel, and System Center/Job Control on repair actions/status.
  • Performs scheduled recovery and backup system tasks, creating output products and disseminating as requested.
  • Responds to failures and anomalies, ensuring facility security by utilizing established procedures.
  • Assists in training apprentice personnel and coordinates system upgrades and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • IAT Level II Certification (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP).
  • 2 years of direct experience in system administration.
  • 3 years of work history in relevant fields.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems administration and associated hardware.
  • Experience with Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)/VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) certificate.
  • Experience with Cyber and Space Operations.
  • Basic experience with Red Hat Enterprise or Linux environments.
  • Experience with basic Windows System Administration or Space Defense Operations Center (SPADOC) or space situational analysis.
