About the position

As a Systems Administrator at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunity by supporting our intelligence customer in Bluemont, VA. This position involves managing and maintaining desktop and server systems, ensuring operational efficiency, and providing Tier 2/3 support for Unix and Windows environments. You will be at the forefront of innovation, helping to improve how agencies operate while ensuring the security and reliability of critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Systems administration of desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks.
  • Manage desktop system responsibilities including account monitoring, security, and OS installation.
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Monitor and resolve issues for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Support escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
  • Install and load operating system and application software.
  • Isolate and resolve hardware and software problems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain network components and implement OS enhancements.
  • Perform software installations and upgrades to Unix/Windows operating systems.
  • Create and manage procedures for maintaining linked databases, ensuring data safety and integrity.
  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance of data center equipment.
  • Communicate and coordinate scheduled preventive maintenance with customers.
  • Collaborate on backup and recovery plans and ensure systems are secure to STIG guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have Security+ certification or DoD 8570 Level II equivalent within 90 days of hire.
  • TS/SCI Clearance required and eligibility to obtain CI Poly.
  • Experience in UNIX, Windows, and/or Storage administration.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour calls and provide on-call support.
  • Ability to travel 30% to local area sites and possibly OCONUS trips.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the imagery intelligence domain.
  • Ability to create and modify scripts in multiple disciplines on Windows, Linux, and Solaris systems.
  • Knowledge of the Customer's processes and procedures and production systems.
  • General knowledge of database administration and network configuration management skills.
