About the position

As a Systems Administrator at Actalent, you will be responsible for the administration of Microsoft servers, workstations, and network infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting, patch management, and ensuring system security, particularly for Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers. You will also manage the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) System Administration, which includes installing and configuring necessary software and hardware. Your work will support mission-critical tasks in a dynamic operational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Managing network servers and technology tools.
  • Setting up accounts and workstations as required.
  • Troubleshooting issues and outages.
  • Upgrading systems with new releases and software installs.
  • Conducting server builds.
  • Analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving system hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Applying DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) as required.
  • Managing Microsoft Active Directory, GPO management, Certificate Administration, and related services.
  • Communicating detailed technical information on troubleshooting and implementation efforts.
  • Planning, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining oversight for all aspects of the IS infrastructure.
  • Installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer systems, and planning for and responding to service outages and other problems.
  • Assessing current system posture and proposing specific hardware, software, firmware, and basic input/output system (BIOS) upgrades.
  • Scripting or light programming, project management for systems-related projects, supervising or training computer operators.
  • Assisting with the planning, installation, and upgrades for all AWS hardware and software applications in accordance with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), and local working directives.
  • Researching and making recommendations for upgrades to system hardware infrastructure and applications to ensure continuous operations while maintaining desired performance and service.
  • Working as an integrated team member in a highly dynamic operationally sensitive environment providing mission critical data to the war fighter.
  • Communicating and coordinating across the whole team for cyber-related issues.
  • Staying current with Government and industry trends, laws, and standards and recommending methods to meet requirements.
  • Collaborating with configurations management to develop and maintain authorized software lists for all types of systems assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience with system administration, Windows administration, and STIGs.
  • Familiarity with Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) systems.
  • Ability to automate tasks using PowerShell.
  • Experience with virtual machine technologies (e.g., ESXi, VCenter, Vsphere).
  • Database experience (MS SQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS.
  • An active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required to perform this work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Desired Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CASP, C|EH, CHFI.
  • AAS/BA/BS preferred.
  • Degree in Computer Science or other relevant field of study, or 5 years equivalent experience.
