About the position

The Systems Administrator position at the Office of Attorney General Keith Ellison is responsible for overseeing and performing system administration and technical support across the operations environment. This role involves administering Microsoft 365 tenants and enterprise solutions, analyzing and resolving technical issues, and ensuring the operational integrity of the systems infrastructure. The position supports the legal operations of the Office and requires collaboration with a team of IT professionals to maintain system availability and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system administration and technical support across the operations environment, including on-premises and Microsoft cloud solutions.
  • Administer and serve as subject matter expert for Microsoft 365 enterprise services.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and mailboxes within Microsoft 365 hybrid infrastructure.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain complex computer, data, voice, and video systems.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and operations problems.
  • Leverage scripting and automation tools to streamline operations and improve processes.
  • Serve as point of escalation and provide consultation and technical support to staff.
  • Serve as an IT consultant and adviser to users and staff on system needs and requests for services.
  • Develop plans that require the integration of multiple technologies and systems.
  • Install, configure, and test application software packages.
  • Assess infrastructure operations and identify adjustments to improve performance.

Requirements

  • Degree in information technology, information systems, or closely related field (experience may substitute for degree).
  • At least two years' experience of systems administration or engineering in Microsoft 365 enterprise services.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of computer trends, software, capabilities, and terminology.
  • Expertise in installing and troubleshooting computer hardware and software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 technologies and services, as well as Microsoft 365 and Azure security and compliance.
  • Experience installing, upgrading, and maintaining computer networks including server hardware and software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant industry certifications.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Administration (Exchange, Teams, Point, Entra, Intune, Azure); Active Directory; Group Policy; PowerShell; ITSM Tools.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching technical staff.
