About the position

SAIC is seeking an intermediate to experienced Systems Administrator with a strong background in network engineering. The role involves configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting networking equipment and servers, with a focus on providing excellent customer service to various U.S. Government end users. The position requires effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach, as well as the ability to work independently when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all components of computer network software including software licenses, software version updates, and anti-virus software.
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, and servers in an operational environment.
  • Troubleshoot network hardware issues.
  • Responsible for network administration, fault detection, and fault isolation services, as well as network traffic monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software, run diagnostics, document network problems, outages, and solutions, and assess current and future impact of issues.
  • Monitor and generate data analytics focused on improving network throughput performance.
  • Communicate networking issues to internal teams and Government Lead.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to leadership for planning and implementing new or upgrades of end-to-end networking software and hardware.
  • Train and educate new users.
  • Support development organization with the integration of network hardware/software/cyber security upgrades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field with 5+ years of experience.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with Poly.
  • Experience in database, network administration, or system administration.
  • DOD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II desired (such as CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, CND, or SSCP).
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux Redhat Enterprise, Microsoft Server network protocols, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Dell Server Configuration.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans.
  • Ability to problem solve and think critically, sometimes independent of significant experience or documentation of the problem area.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal/briefing skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
