About the position

The System Administrator will support the Strategic Warning and Space Surveillance Directorate, specifically the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization (PARCS) Program Office Division. The role focuses on maintaining and sustaining the PARCS radar through various technical and program management activities, ensuring operational readiness and security compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain computer security programs, including vulnerability management, patch management, system back-up, and auditing programs.
  • Ensure systems operate within current security guidelines with approved hardware/software and up-to-date patches.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain system configurations of all hardware and software to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Implement required Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) NOTAMs and Mission Tasking Orders affecting the system baseline.
  • Utilize Vulnerability Management guidelines and conduct system scans, initiating corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage user accounts, firewalls, and patches, responsible for access control, passwords, and account administration.
  • Oversee all system internal networks, maintaining operating systems, applications, security tools, and associated hardware.
  • Monitor system performance, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and system issues, and analyze system logs.
  • Perform system backups and recovery tasks, troubleshoot problems, and initiate actions to isolate issues.
  • Maintain a network of virtual and physical machines, systems, and virtual servers, including firewalls and routers.

Requirements

  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance, eligible to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Fifteen (15) years of directly related experience, including eight (8) years of DoD experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in technical/professional discipline as a senior Test Engineer.
  • Ability to oversee and guide junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Comprehensive understanding of systems and test engineering standards, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and apply proper procedures related to the area of expertise.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for various situations.
  • Experience with Windows and RPM-based Linux distributions.
  • Working understanding of Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM).

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top Secret clearance preferred.
  • System Administration certifications based on DoD 8570 IAT preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field with twelve (12) years of experience, including five (5) years of DoD experience; or a Master's in a related field with ten (10) years of experience, including five (5) years of DoD experience.
