About the position

The Systems Analyst 2 - Business Applications role at University of Michigan Health-West is designed to serve as a liaison between IT and various business functional areas. This position focuses on managing application and system upgrades, implementations, and maintenance, while providing essential support throughout the project lifecycle. The analyst will coordinate with department liaisons and analysts to enhance systems, ensuring effective documentation and user training to optimize application performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, collaborate, and coordinate all application and system enhancements, installations, and upgrades for assigned systems.
  • Resolve complex questions and problems relative to IT processes and refer more urgent issues to higher levels.
  • Develop application specifications/profile toward completion of project management plans for assigned projects.
  • Manage intermediate to complex projects and applications in conjunction with the respective project sponsor, project leader, and assigned goal team.
  • Coordinate with technical teams on the systems they support to meet user requirements and incorporate system efficiency principles.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of platform-specific security controls.
  • Document and manage all phases of the application life cycle.
  • Collaborate with end-user department leadership and staff to assure effective organizational and departmental operations.
  • Coordinate, develop, and lead training to facilitate the effective use of existing applications in assigned user departments.
  • Maintain documentation regarding interactivity of applications within the assigned user department.
  • Assist user departments in resolving application issues and coordinate resources in resolving application software and hardware issues.
  • Initiate application optimization strategies.
  • Support users via on-call assignments and ongoing after-hour support of assigned applications.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of basic project management and hospital systems.
  • Understanding of system terminology and operational components of technology supporting a hospital system.
  • Knowledge of problem analysis, resource coordination, product development, and documentation control.
  • Demonstrated presentation, team building, and leadership qualities.
  • Ability to make decisions and facilitate interactions independently.
  • Maintenance of certifications, including yearly contractual requirements and new version assignments of systems supported.
