About the position

The Systems Analyst at Tampa Electric plays a crucial role in developing applications, implementing software packages, integrating applications, and providing 24x7 application support. This position collaborates on all phases of the software development life-cycle (SDLC) with a focus on application design, development, and implementation, utilizing appropriate development tools and technologies in alignment with the IT architecture. The role offers opportunities for growth and development within a supportive and diverse work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software of limited complexity based on specifications provided.
  • Implement software packages for which limited configuration and integration is required with minimal vendor contact.
  • Integrate applications where the complexity of interfaces is limited and based on specifications provided.
  • Provide 24x7 primary support for one or more applications typically classified as ‘niche' or ‘core', but not ‘mission-critical'.
  • Support the request and analysis phases of SDLC by assisting with documentation and estimates.
  • Execute the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables under the guidance of more senior staff.
  • Participate on an Application Development and Support team as well as project teams under the direction of their manager, senior team members, or project managers.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of business areas relevant to projects and application support assignments.
  • Acquire and maintain appropriate technical skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum one year of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.
  • Working knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies.
  • Good verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of project plans and ability to articulate role, project goals, and timelines.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Comprehension of technical design specifications and knowledge of development tools and technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with complex software development projects.
  • Familiarity with vendor interactions for software packages.
  • Experience in leading small projects or teams.
