About the position

The Systems Analyst for Financial Assistance at Villanova University plays a crucial role in analyzing, adjusting, and restructuring various aspects of the university's systems and processes. This position collaborates with IT teams to translate user needs into technical solutions, ensuring efficient operations within the Office of Financial Assistance. The analyst will enhance business processes through technology, support the Banner ERP system, and work closely with end users to document and improve workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the analysis, adjustment, and restructuring of university systems and processes.
  • Consult with end users to understand and document business processes.
  • Identify solutions to increase user efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work proactively with university functions to articulate and plan for technology needs.
  • Elicit and analyze both functional and technical requirements.
  • Author business justifications and requests for funding.
  • Analyze alternatives and develop technology roadmaps.
  • Enhance business processes through strategic use of technology.
  • Aid end users in identifying data integration points and dependencies.
  • Support teams in identifying data/reporting requirements.
  • Manage and maintain the Ellucian Banner Financial Aid system.
  • Assist IT Programming staff with Structured Query Report (SQR) reporting requirements.
  • Train Financial Assistance staff on system functionalities.
  • Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure high standards of performance and reliability.
  • Document current workflows and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in analyzing business processes.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner Financial Aid modules.
  • Experience with Structured Query Reports (SQR).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and technical skills to diagnose problems.
  • Functional knowledge of financial assistance/financial aid in a university setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Automic Job Scheduling software.
  • Experience with report creation on Cognos and Argos platforms.
