About the position

The Systems Analyst HIM position at Intermountain Health involves conceptualizing, designing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining assigned applications, specifically OnBase, Solarity, and Epic Ambulatory, for the Medical Group and Ambulatory Clinics. This role serves as a thought leader for these applications, ensuring they meet the business needs of the Enterprise. The analyst will drive the identification of requirements for Document Management Workflows and will be responsible for identifying substandard processes through data analysis, presenting innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency. The position requires the analyst to perform regular reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports. This includes analyzing and documenting user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems. The analyst will review system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations, documenting workflows, configuring activities, and adhering to change management protocols. Additionally, the role involves developing, documenting, and revising system design procedures, test procedures, and regulatory and quality standards. The Systems Analyst will recommend workflow and application changes aimed at improving quality, safety, or efficiency, working through the necessary governance structure for approvals. They will also develop and monitor controls to ensure appropriate availability and data integrity within the assigned applications. The role includes performing audits of user provisioning for assigned applications and collaborating with vendors to ensure optimal quality and system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, implement, support, and maintain assigned applications such as OnBase, Solarity, and Epic Ambulatory.
  • Drive identification of requirements for Document Management Workflows.
  • Identify substandard processes through data analysis and present innovative solutions.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports.
  • Analyze and document user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems.
  • Review system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations.
  • Document workflows, configure and/or build activities, and adhere to change management protocols.
  • Develop, document, and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and regulatory and quality standards.
  • Recommend workflow and application changes for improved quality, safety, or efficiency and work through governance for approvals.
  • Develop and monitor controls to ensure appropriate availability and data integrity within assigned applications.
  • Perform and audit user provisioning for assigned applications for improved quality, safety, or efficiency.
  • Collaborate and monitor processes and work with vendors to ensure optimal quality and system performance.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Health Information Management, computer science, or healthcare administration required.
  • Two (2) years in Healthcare required, with technical experience and/or HIM experience required.
  • Proficient computer skills necessary to perform required tasks, including intermediate knowledge of databases and spreadsheet applications.
  • Advanced analytical skills in health information workflow analysis and planning, with the ability to present complex data in an understandable format.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospital organization and administration, and laws applicable to health information management.
  • Hands-on operational experience working with physicians and clinical staff within an ambulatory care setting.
  • Change management skills relating to IT applications and the development of business requirements and health information documentation.
  • Skilled in information systems used within healthcare systems, including building parameters and implementing interface requirements.
  • Experience in coordinating IT healthcare projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, computer science, or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Health Information Technologist (RHIT) preferred.
