About the position

AIPSO is seeking a Systems Analyst II/Sr. Systems Analyst/Lead Systems Analyst to join our team in Johnston, RI. As a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups, AIPSO is responsible for administering the residual market. Our organization is dedicated to serving local customer needs while emphasizing centralization and standardization to achieve economies of scale and operational efficiencies. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility in addressing the diverse interests of our customer groups. In this role, you will analyze complex business problems and determine effective IT solutions. You will enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot business applications, including application endpoints/APIs and databases. Your responsibilities will include using system APIs such as SOAP to test payloads and troubleshoot service errors, as well as utilizing SQL skills to analyze application data and propose solutions to rectify data-related issues. You will implement best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work closely with business counterparts to identify optimal IT solutions in various business functional areas. You will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and technical requirements. Your ability to break down business requirements into manageable work items for developers will be essential, as will your skills in mapping out and documenting user interface changes, database changes, and logic changes. Additionally, you will develop, analyze, prioritize, and organize requirement specifications, user stories, data mapping, diagrams, and flowcharts for developers and testers. You will perform design, implementation, and upgrades of information systems to meet business and user needs, while also defining and coordinating testing of system development work to ensure functional correctness. Monitoring system health, gathering statistics, and troubleshooting reported errors will be part of your daily tasks. As a Systems Analyst, you will consult with customers to identify current operating procedures and clarify business objectives, helping businesses implement technology solutions in a cost-effective manner. You will maintain an understanding of the organization's Software Development Lifecycle, programming standards, development tools, and systems infrastructure. Your leadership skills will be crucial as you provide direction, motivate and support team members, and drive consensus and decision-making across teams. You will also keep project stakeholders informed of progress and help project leadership determine estimates for project level of effort.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in computer science or information technology preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 or more years of related experience with development tools and/or platforms such as .NET, N-Tier Architecture, and SQL Server.
  • Strong foundation in SQL Server Queries, Data Inserts, and updates.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and relational databases.
  • General understanding of front and back-office technology.
  • Understanding of T-SQL and automobile insurance policy processing is a plus.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft 365).
  • Effective and creative problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze complex issues and find root causes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA or Trello.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry standards and practices.
