About the position

Society Insurance is seeking an experienced Systems Analyst II to join our Information Technology team. This position plays a crucial role as a liaison between the Product Owner, key stakeholders, and the agile team, focusing on defining system requirements and translating them into technical specifications in the form of user stories, acceptance criteria, and associated artifacts. The Systems Analyst will also be responsible for supporting system enhancements, defect resolution, and testing to ensure the quality of the systems in place. This role is essential in aligning existing and emerging business systems with the company's overall strategy and requirements. In this position, the Systems Analyst will review, analyze, and translate business details into technical requirements. This includes writing detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and the steps required to develop or modify computer systems. The analyst will advise the business on system functions and capabilities to ensure that the systems meet business needs effectively. Additionally, the role involves developing solutions for business system implementations and necessary alterations, which may include performing application/system configuration changes and serving as an administrator. Working as a member of an agile team, the Systems Analyst will assist the Product Owner and business departments in eliciting user stories and acceptance criteria to improve existing systems, with a strong focus on delivering business value. The analyst will also define, implement, and assist in application development quality assurance (QA) and system regression testing, which includes planning, creating, evaluating, and tracking testing results. The position promotes and improves systems analysis and agile processes, estimating systems analysis efforts on user stories. The ideal candidate will demonstrate practical experience in various insurance industry concepts, practices, and procedures while interacting with employees, outside vendors, and consultants. They will facilitate the completion of user stories/features, coordinating communication with other agile teams, writing documentation and specifications, testing, and consulting. Furthermore, the Systems Analyst will assist in the selection, development, and implementation of systems analysis tools and processes, providing consultation on complex projects and solving problems as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between the Product Owner, key stakeholders, and the agile team to define system requirements.
  • Translate business details into technical requirements and write detailed descriptions of user needs and program functions.
  • Advise business on system functions and capabilities to ensure systems meet business needs.
  • Develop solutions for business system implementations and necessary alterations, including application/system configuration changes.
  • Work as a member of an agile team to assist the Product Owner and business departments with eliciting user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Define, implement, and assist in application development quality assurance (QA) and system regression testing.
  • Estimate systems analysis efforts on user stories and promote agile processes.
  • Facilitate the completion of user stories/features, coordinating communication with other agile teams.
  • Assist in the selection, development, and implementation of systems analysis tools and processes.
  • Provide consultation on complex projects and solve problems.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in computer science or a business-related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience related to information systems and/or business analysis.
  • Experience gathering and writing detailed business/technical system requirements and/or user stories.
  • Basic understanding of SQL.
  • Experience working within a project-management environment and utilizing manual/automated system application testing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to express ideas and present solutions clearly.
  • Prior experience working within the insurance industry and an agile environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps and Test Manager is highly desirable.
