About the position

The Pharmacy System Analyst at Altera will be responsible for providing technical application solutions for the Sunrise Pharmacy Applications. This role involves data collection, reporting, and addressing technical issues to enhance the functionality and efficiency of pharmacy systems. The analyst will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that software meets business requirements and technical specifications, while also participating in testing and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical application solutions for assigned business areas under the direction of the Manager.
  • Identify and prioritize common causes of defects and systematically remove them to prevent recurrence.
  • Participate in focus groups, workshops, and vendor training.
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Informatics staff to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Code, test, debug, implement, and document programs or technical configurations.
  • Ensure vendor software meets technical specifications and standards.
  • Interact with Pharmacy Analysts, Informatics, Vendors, and Project Managers during application design and testing.
  • Perform technical application configuration and run reports as requested by users.
  • Design and execute Functional, End to End, and User Acceptance Testing plans for new software releases.
  • Maintain technical documentation based on standard operating procedures.
  • Perform scheduled application maintenance activities.
  • Assist in resolving support calls escalated by the Service Desk.
  • Support Go Live activations and rollouts.
  • Align closely with customer business objectives and improve domain knowledge.
  • Ensure quality of deliverables as per defined standards.
  • Document issues and resolutions to improve team productivity.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Adhere to defined change control standards.
  • Provide accurate and timely information and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Actively participate in meetings and contribute valuable insights.
  • Provide production support for application issues.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree preferred or relevant combination of training and experience.
  • 2 years of industry experience preferred or 2-5 years of practical experience in technical support and maintenance.
  • Experience with Pyxis ES is highly desired.
  • Healthcare background with technical experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS SQL, Visio, and client/server networking.
  • Understanding of HL7 concepts, particularly ADT and SIU transactions.
  • Understanding of integration between multiple healthcare applications using HL7.
  • Solid MS Office skills, particularly in Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with any other EHR application at the front-end or configuration level.
