The Systems Analyst position in Student Financial Services at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, is a critical role that operates under the general direction of the Director of Student Financial Services. The responsibilities of this position encompass various financial activities, including but not limited to tuition charges, housing and dining charges, fee waivers, accounts receivables, and collection activities. The analyst may also engage in duties that span multiple programs or specialties within Student Financial Services. Given the intricate and interrelated nature of the processes involved, the staff must possess a significant depth and breadth of knowledge not only in their specific areas of expertise but also in the overall operations of the office. This cross-functional knowledge is essential for the accurate administration of payments and accounts, as well as for effective communication with students, parents, and staff regarding complex account activities. As part of the University Financial Services (UFS) Department, Student Financial Services plays a vital role in the financial operations of the university. The department is responsible for the charging, collection, receipt, and reporting of all student fees in accordance with state, CSU, and University policies. Additionally, it ensures the proper receipting and safeguarding of payments and deposits made to the University, administers payroll and student refund disbursements, and accounts for students' financial activities in compliance with federal, state, CSU, and University policies. The position is integral to the finance group and has a direct impact on the general ledger and financial statements, necessitating collaboration with other finance areas to gather accounting information, perform reconciliations, and resolve issues.
