About the position

The Systems Analyst at NYC Health + Hospitals plays a crucial role in the revenue cycle process, focusing on reviewing claim errors and ensuring timely billing. This position involves working closely with the Senior Systems Analyst to understand payer regulations and to correct billing discrepancies, thereby maximizing revenue for the hospital. The role requires a detail-oriented approach to account research, error correction, and collaboration with various departments to identify and resolve claim issues.

Responsibilities

  • Review claim errors and claims that have not been final billed.
  • Know current rules and regulations for each payer's errors and timely filing guidelines.
  • Conduct account research and correct Billing and ADT/Reg claim errors.
  • Identify the root cause of claim errors and potentially rebill accounts.
  • Correct SPARCS edits and run reports.
  • Prepare itemized bills and complete manual claims for submission to payers.
  • Update patient accounting systems as necessary.
  • Document patient information clearly in billing systems.
  • Interact with other departments to alert them of claim error trends and assist in resolution.
  • Attend necessary training sessions and meetings to perform day-to-day functions.

Requirements

  • A Baccalaureate Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience in analysis, development, and implementation of systems, methods, and procedures in a relevant organization.
  • Familiarity with EDP applications and data processing programs.
  • A Master's Degree in Management, Business Administration, Hospital Administration Management, Public Administration, Accounting, or a relevant field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
