As a member of the IT Services Platform Services team, the Systems Analyst plays a crucial role in providing diverse technical services that support mission-critical operating systems, including z/OS mainframe and other platforms such as Windows and Linux. This position is essential for ensuring that the business operations of UCLA run smoothly and efficiently. The Systems Analyst will be responsible for provisioning access to critical system and application resources, which includes the creation, modification, and deletion of system and user accounts. Additionally, the role involves administering file and database access rule changes to maintain security and compliance across the university's IT infrastructure. The Systems Analyst will also support the campus Distributed Administrative Computing Security System (DACSS), which includes managing mainframe application release processes and job scheduling functions. This entails granting and removing functions that control user access to enterprise applications, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access to sensitive information. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Systems Analyst will work closely with IT Services application developers, the data center operations team, and Department Security Administrators (DSAs). Participation in the campus DACSS Workgroup is also expected, contributing to the overall security and efficiency of the university's IT systems. In addition to these responsibilities, the Systems Analyst may be tasked with documenting standard procedures, supporting application testing efforts, performing software product patching and upgrades, and providing general customer support. The role may require after-hours work as needed or assigned, reflecting the commitment to maintaining UCLA's IT infrastructure in a secure and effective manner.
