About the position

As a member of the IT Services Platform Services team, the Systems Analyst provides diverse technical services in support of mission-critical operating systems such as z/OS mainframe and other platforms including Windows and/or Linux that support business operations for the campus. Primary responsibilities will include provisioning access to critical system and application resources, creation, modification and deletion of system and user accounts, in addition to administering file and database access rule changes. The Systems Analyst will also support the campus Distributed Administrative Computing Security System (DACSS), mainframe application release management and job scheduling functions including granting and removing of functions that control user access to enterprise applications. This role will work in close collaboration with IT Services application developers, data center operations team, Department Security Administrators (DSAs), and also participates in the campus DACSS Workgroup. Additional responsibilities may include documentation of standard procedures, supporting application testing efforts, software product patching and upgrades and general customer support. The Systems Analyst may work after hours as needed or assigned. The Systems Analyst will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by ensuring UCLA's IT Infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in service of the university's academic mission. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. Responsibilities

  • Provision access to critical system and application resources.
  • Create, modify, and delete system and user accounts.
  • Administer file and database access rule changes.
  • Support the campus Distributed Administrative Computing Security System (DACSS).
  • Manage mainframe application release management and job scheduling functions.
  • Grant and remove functions that control user access to enterprise applications.
  • Collaborate with IT Services application developers and data center operations team.
  • Participate in the campus DACSS Workgroup.
  • Document standard procedures and support application testing efforts.
  • Perform software product patching and upgrades.
  • Provide general customer support.

Requirements

  • One year experience working in production support, platform services, information technology or a related field.
  • Experience providing production support for z/OS mainframe and/or other operating platforms such as Windows and/or Linux and associated tools including JCL, !SPF, and system utilities.
  • Basic knowledge and experience of z/OS security administration using CA­ACF2, CA-Scheduler, JAMS and GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer (or similar tools).
  • Experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues.
  • Ability and willingness to provide technical support after-hours as assigned or requested.
  • Ability to effectively utilize common office productivity software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Outlook, and internet browsers.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative professional relationships with functional and technical staff at all levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize project needs.
  • Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three or more years experience working in production support, platform services, information technology.
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university.
