About the position

Xpansiv is seeking a Systems Analyst to join the APX Product development team, which is dedicated to building and maintaining the technical solutions and services utilized by our customers in the energy sector. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, possess strong analytical and technical skills, and have a keen interest in the energy industry. This role is integral to the Power Solutions team, which aims to deliver exceptional products and services that align with Xpansiv's mission of empowering the world's transition to sustainable energy. The Systems Analyst will become proficient with both internal and external tools and systems, including SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, to provide effective services to APX customers. In this position, the Systems Analyst will provide support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, ensuring that system issues are identified and resolved promptly. The role also involves analyzing and documenting business requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and supporting the design, development, and implementation of system solutions that enhance operational efficiency. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and IT, is essential to ensure the seamless operation of systems. Additionally, the Systems Analyst will assist in preparing user manuals, training materials, and technical documentation, and will participate in project meetings to contribute to project planning and status updates. Staying current with industry trends and best practices in the electrical power sector is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Become proficient with the internal and external tools and systems used to provide services to APX customers, including SCADA systems.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, identifying and resolving system issues promptly.
  • Assist in analyzing and documenting business requirements and translating them into technical specifications.
  • Support the design, development, and implementation of system solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and IT, to ensure seamless operation of systems.
  • Assist in preparing user manuals, training materials, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings, contributing to project planning and status updates.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in the electrical power sector.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a technical field, and/or several years of experience working as a systems analyst or in a similar technical role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server (or the demonstrated ability to learn).
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and superior knowledge of Excel/spreadsheets.
  • Capacity to quickly absorb commercial and technical concepts.
  • Capability to work remotely/virtually across time zones with various groups and cultures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Documented experience working with SQL, REST APIs, SCADA systems.
  • Electric power industry experience.
