About the position

The Systems and Data Engineer plays a vital role in managing and developing HGA's SQL server environment, focusing on the ERP ecosystem and custom integrations. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and strategic insight to ensure that the database infrastructure aligns with the company's technology and business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration of the ERP ecosystem, Deltek Vantagepoint, and maintain a robust SQL server environment.
  • Design and implement strategies for modernizing technological infrastructure, considering performance, reliability, cost, and scalability.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive disaster recovery plans and IT security policies.
  • Develop and track key performance metrics to monitor and report on infrastructure health and system performance.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to align infrastructure developments with firm-wide needs.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure service quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Establish software development practices for backend databases, including version controlling and code deployment.
  • Develop and maintain simple data-intensive .NET and/or web applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years in infrastructure operations within a corporate setting.
  • Proven track record in managing ERP systems and/or complex SQL server environments.
  • Expertise in Windows Server environments.
  • Working knowledge of SQL objects, data modelling, version controlling with git, and at least one other programming language (preferably .NET or Python).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with cloud operations, preferably in Microsoft Azure/o365 and Power BI/Microsoft Fabric.
