About the position

The Systems and Instruction Librarian at California State University, Monterey Bay is a tenure-track faculty position responsible for managing library systems and providing instructional support. This role involves overseeing electronic resources, the unified library management system, and the library website, while also engaging in research consultations and information literacy instruction. The librarian will contribute to the library's mission of fostering student success and will participate in shared governance within the university.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full life cycle of electronic resources including trials, subscriptions, and database administration.
  • Serve as the administrator and main technical lead for the Library's Ex Libris Alma/Primo VE library management system.
  • Test and implement new functionality and upgrades to optimize user experience.
  • Serve as primary library website editor and manage integrations with other systems.
  • Provide information literacy instruction and research consultations to assigned academic departments.
  • Collect and provide library resource usage data and statistics.
  • Contribute to committee and governance work at the library and university levels.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in information and/or library science from an ALA-accredited school.
  • Experience managing library systems and electronic resources management tools.
  • Experience developing workflows, policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Understanding of emerging issues, trends, and standards in librarianship.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical, communication, presentation, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated success working independently and collaboratively in a library or educational setting.
  • Experience and/or commitment to work with diverse backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience collaborating with academic programs and/or faculty at an institution of higher education.
  • Experience providing information literacy instruction in a classroom or group training setting.
  • Collection development experience.
  • Active involvement in professional development activities with a record of scholarly contributions.
