About the position

Schneider Electric is seeking a Systems Application Engineer II - Software to join our Engineering Controls Software team. This role focuses on software and controls programming for various building systems, including Air Handling Units (AHUs), Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems, chillers, water plants, and data center applications. Our team provides expertise to clients in commercial office buildings, airports, pharmaceutical facilities, university campuses, and hospitals throughout the New York City and New Jersey area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing software solutions that enhance building automation systems (BAS) and ensure optimal performance and efficiency. In this position, you will engage in controls programming for BAS systems, which includes creating intuitive graphical user interfaces and following established standards for software development, communication, and documentation. You will also be required to visit job sites for system checkout, commissioning, and programming, ensuring that all systems are functioning as intended. A critical aspect of this role involves interpreting project specifications and sequences of operations, as developed by Project Engineering or Account Executives, and translating these into effective controller code. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with project team members and contractors to ensure the success of the system commissioning process. Additionally, you will provide training to clients, either on-site or from our office, and manage communications with customers, subcontractors, and field engineers, offering guidance and updates to project managers. This position is client-facing, requiring excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information and foster strong relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Controls programming for BAS systems (Function Block/Script, Graphics (UI))
  • Creates intuitive graphical user interfaces for BAS systems.
  • Visits job sites for checkout, commissioning, and systems programming.
  • Follows established standards and procedures for software development, communication, and documentation.
  • Interprets each project's sequence of operations as provided, developed in writing by Project Engineering (or Account Executive) and creates controller code to implement the sequence.
  • Works with project team members and associated contractor personnel to ensure the system commissioning process's success.
  • Provides training, as requested, either on customer site or from our office.
  • Manage communications with customers, subcontractors, field engineers, and provide guidance and updates to project managers.

Requirements

  • Degree in B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or similar programming.
  • Controls Programming Experience.
  • Eco structure Building Operations Certified & experience preferred.
  • BACnet, Modbus protocols experienced preferred.
  • Strong Knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems.
  • Programming, software design, documentation, debugging, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, as this is a client-facing position.
