As a Systems Architect, you will play a crucial role in interfacing with stakeholders from various departments including data center operations, manufacturing, and supply chains to crystallize Design for Operations requirements. Your influence will extend to shaping new platform architectures through technical insights and trade-off analyses, collaborating closely with stakeholders from the Hardware Design and Software Architecture teams. This position is pivotal in mentoring a highly experienced team within operations, fostering in-house competence in platform architecture, both hardware and software. The Technical Infrastructure team is responsible for the architecture that underpins everything our users see online. This includes developing and maintaining our data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms, which are essential for making Google's product portfolio possible. We take pride in being the engineers' engineers, often voiding warranties by taking things apart to understand and rebuild them. Our mission is to keep networks up and running, ensuring that users have the best and fastest experience possible. In this role, you will also be responsible for identifying operational risks associated with system design, enabling rapid deployment, and minimizing downtime during repairs. You will work collaboratively with partners in Hardware, Software, and Tooling teams to mitigate these operational risks. Additionally, you will crystallize the trade-offs between systems design and operational excellence, facilitating decision-making from the engineer level to the executive level. Your oversight will extend to the validation and tactical execution of system design requirements, guiding projects from ideation to ramp-up. Clear communication of updates, escalations, and achievements will be essential in aligning stakeholders across competing priorities.
