As a Systems Architect at Google, you will play a pivotal role in interfacing with various stakeholders from data center operations, manufacturing, and supply chains to crystallize Design for Operations requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in influencing new platform architectures through technical insights and trade-off analyses, collaborating closely with stakeholders from the Hardware Design and Software Architecture teams. This position is not just about design; it also involves mentoring a highly experienced team within operations to foster in-house competence in platform architecture, encompassing both hardware and software aspects. The Technical Infrastructure team, which you will be a part of, is responsible for the architecture that underpins everything users see online. This includes developing and maintaining data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms. The team prides itself on being the engineers' engineers, often taking apart systems to understand them better and rebuild them for optimal performance. Your work will ensure that networks remain operational, providing users with the best and fastest experience possible. In this role, you will also be responsible for identifying operational risks associated with system design, enabling rapid deployment, and minimizing downtime during repairs. You will work collaboratively with partners in Hardware, Software, and Tooling teams to mitigate these operational risks. Additionally, you will be tasked with crystallizing the trade-offs between systems design and operational excellence, facilitating decision-making processes that span from the engineering level to executive leadership. Your ability to align stakeholders across competing priorities through clear communication will be essential for the success of the projects you oversee.
