About the position

The Systems Designer for Encore's Event Infrastructure Services group is responsible for designing, installing, and operating audio-visual systems and related technologies in various venues. This role involves evaluating venue needs, creating innovative designs, and ensuring compliance with technical standards. The designer will work closely with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to deliver functional and safe audio-visual solutions that enhance event experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing installations and conduct site visits to analyze drawing sets.
  • Create detailed drawings, schematics, and renderings using CAD, Vectorworks, Visio, and other platforms.
  • Support sales by providing technical expertise and participating in client interactions.
  • Collaborate with venue Engineering, General Contractors, and Architects to ensure designs meet standards.
  • Contribute to the improvement of design standards and documentation.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant products and advocate for their use in designs.
  • Work with procurement to select and prioritize vendors and equipment.
  • Perform post-install analysis to assess design effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Partner with project management and installation teams to address challenges during installation.
  • Act as a liaison to third-party vendors to expedite engineering and permitting processes.

Requirements

  • BA degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of CAD software experience.
  • Client relationship experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 and office tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Strong customer service skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
  • Proficient problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • 2+ years of Audio Visual installation design experience.
  • Construction background preferred.
  • CTS certification is a plus (CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I).
  • Familiarity with NFPA and knowledge of audio, video, and control systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of control systems such as Crestron, AMX, QSYS, Control One.
