About the position

The Systems Development Engineer in Design Technologies at Amazon Lab126 is responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting the systems that facilitate the research, development, and design of Amazon's next-generation digital devices. This role involves coordinating with various teams to ensure the infrastructure meets operational excellence standards and customizing third-party software to align with Amazon's needs.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and support systems for Amazon's research, development, and design teams.
• Coordinate with researchers and engineers to provide necessary infrastructure.
• Evaluate, purchase, deploy, and support mission-critical tools in collaboration with vendors.
• Customize and integrate third-party software to meet Amazon's requirements.
• Improve existing infrastructure to maintain high operational standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
• Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working in a high-paced DevOps environment.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale.
• Knowledge of database systems and SQL.
• Knowledge of a front-end language (Javascript, CSS, HTML, etc.).
• 2+ years of experience managing CAE/FEA tools such as Ansys, Abaqus, CST, LS-Dyna, Comsol, Matlab.
• 2+ years of experience managing schedulers such as PBS/OpenPBS, Slurm, IBM LSF.
• 2+ years troubleshooting Simulation Job issues in AWS.
• 2+ years managing license servers such as FlexLM.
