About the position

The Systems Engineer - Automation will collaborate with engineering and leadership teams to drive strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing delivery quality and reducing costs. This role involves designing and developing distributed control systems, providing sales support, and ensuring adherence to contract terms while maintaining high employee satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop distributed control systems (DCS) including PLC/HMI/SCADA programs.
• Select products for bill of material (BOM) based on customer specifications.
• Create sequence of operations (SOO) and Engineering Drawings in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Produce engineering and project control submittals using Baker Group's standard engineering software.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to review product standards and control submittal formats.
• Provide sales support to assist project managers and sales in obtaining more work.
• Ensure employee satisfaction through continual coordination and communication.
• Execute project scope and identify opportunities for additional work.
• Understand and adhere to contract terms and conditions.
• Partner with engineering team and field technicians to improve engineering processes and quality.
• Work with project managers and mechanical design engineers to develop sequence of operations for equipment.
• Re-estimate projects based on engineered control submittals.
• Provide as-built documentation for operation and maintenance post-project completion.
• Assist in updating the as-built process for improved quality.
• Initiate or participate in turnover meetings discussing project scope, safety, and timelines.
• Utilize and enhance company standard documents for various business processes.

Requirements

• 4-year Technical Degree or equivalent experience in the Automation (PLC or DDC) industry.
