About the position

The Systems Engineer I (SE I) is a desktop support position responsible for maintaining desktop-level hardware and applications for the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) network. The role focuses on ensuring customer satisfaction for end users by providing support for workstations, applications, and telecommunications. The SE I must be present at the designated work site for a minimum of 40 hours per week and be available for on-call rotation for night and weekend coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Provides desktop support and troubleshoots problems with computer hardware, software, and telecommunication systems.
  • Uses helpdesk software to accept, document, and track end user case resolution.
  • Responsible for end user mail management: password changes, account lockouts, distribution list maintenance, etc.
  • Supports the installation, configuration, maintenance, and replacement of software, computers, workstations, and/or other related equipment and devices.
  • Maintains current knowledge with respect to technology and equipment, regulations and policies, and systems standards.
  • Assists in the development of help lists, frequently asked questions, and related documentation for end users.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One-year desktop or computer-related experience.
  • Previous customer service experience, including the ability to listen, build rapport, and resolve problems.
  • Experience working with information systems, telecommunications, software installation, and hardware repair is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Office 365, Azure Active Directory) is helpful.
  • Ability to prioritize, track, resolve, and escalate tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • CompTIA A+ and/or CompTIA Security certification is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with helpdesk software.
  • Familiarity with network troubleshooting.
