About the position

Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer II with expertise in Windows and Linux to provide technical support for critical user environments. The role involves managing system requirements, developing engineering documentation, and ensuring system integrity throughout the lifecycle. Candidates should be detail-oriented and capable of adapting to new technologies and processes quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems compatible with defined architectures.
  • Contribute to the development of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans and Requirements Specifications.
  • Apply Windows and Linux system administration in the development or integration of applications.
  • Assist with the development of system and functional requirements and their allocation to components.
  • Coordinate the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board meetings and design reviews.
  • Participate in an Integrated Product Team to design new capabilities based on operational considerations.
  • Allocate real-time process budgets and error budgets to system components.
  • Generate alternative system concepts and design solutions.
  • Define methods and evaluation criteria for verifying systems against requirements.
  • Develop system design solutions that satisfy system requirements and functional analysis.
  • Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structures and integrated master plans.
  • Participate in interface definition and changes to configuration throughout the lifecycle.
  • Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements ensuring completeness and verifiability.
  • Participate in establishing and gaining approval of system definitions under development.
  • Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services and Security Mechanism Technology.
  • Implement comprehensive SOA solutions and operational views using DoDAF standards.
  • Review system engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Capture interface designs in a common format and store data in an accessible repository.
  • Assess program risks and determine the probability and consequences of failure.
  • Plan verification efforts of new designs early in the development lifecycle.
  • Prepare time-line analysis diagrams illustrating time-dependent functions.
  • Establish a process to manage changes to requirements and ensure traceability.
  • Manage the technical integrity of the system baseline over time.
  • Support planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process.
  • Support the development and review of Joint Capability Integration Development System documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Fourteen (14) years' experience as a System Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows and Linux system engineering, integration, and administration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously learn and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • DoD 8570 Compliant IAT Level II certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience deploying architecture, engineering, and maintaining Multifactor Authentication (MFA) solutions using RSA SecurID 8.x.
