About the position

Raytheon is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join their systems engineering team, focusing on providing technical direction and design support to software agile development teams. The role involves performing technical analyses, defining system capabilities, and collaborating with multi-discipline engineering teams to ensure successful software development throughout the lifecycle. The position requires experience in systems engineering and Agile methodologies, and it is based onsite in State College, PA or Sterling, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multi-discipline engineering teams to design and develop software.
  • Assist in providing technical information and clarification during the entire software development lifecycle from conceptualization and design to development, testing, deployment, and operations.
  • Perform solution decomposition from customer epics to capabilities, features, and stories according to SAFe Agile practices.
  • Apply systems engineering expertise to feature designs to reduce overall risk to the software development effort.
  • Engage with SMEs from other disciplines to fully understand the solution and document the designs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • An active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Demonstrated system engineering and technical experience with software systems development.
  • Experience in agile software development activities, including system level design specification and integration test and verification activities.
  • Experience working in an Agile development team environment with multi-discipline engineers and stakeholders, developing system solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Experience working independently in the development or revisions of existing ICDs, APIs, and system specifications in response to contract modifications.
  • Program experience working on a team addressing solution definition, feature design, acceptance criteria, requirements development and/or requirements maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

  • IC domain experience utilizing GEOINT data types and message formats.
  • Good communications skills to support technical exchange meetings and design briefings.
  • Engineering experience working in the full software development lifecycle using Agile methodology.
  • Experience using MBSE processes and tools to capture systems design and elaboration in Cameo or similar tool.
  • Experience in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and/or micro-service based systems.
