As a Systems Engineer III - Network Architect, you will leverage your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify, and enhance cutting-edge products and services. Your role will involve developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, guiding them from operational concepts through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and testing using advanced tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you will take on system-level ownership of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle. In this position, you will support satellite and terrestrial systems integrations, working closely with key mission partners to drive mission outcomes. Your expertise in satellite communications, terrestrial networking, and cloud integration will be crucial as you provide systems engineering support, develop system-level communications architectures, and create IP-specific communications plans. You will also conduct special analyses, modeling, and simulations to ensure the success of our missions. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area is dedicated to providing affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection, and security solutions worldwide. Our MST team has a rich history of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and various commercial and international customers, with extensive experience in platform operations, engineering, and full lifecycle management across multiple domains, including air, land, sea, space, and cyber.

Responsibilities

  • Design network architectures for space and ground systems based on interoperability standards to implement a variety of data routing and optimization requirements
  • Provide technical knowledge and leadership in support of Space Development Agency missions
  • Provide advanced SATCOM support in operations, communications and coalition planning, crypto, testing, and special analysis
  • Conduct troubleshooting with system users and coordinate during system anomalies
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to team members
  • Design secure wide area connectivity that supports performance, quality of service, security, and mission requirements
  • Integrate capacity planning and scaling of network and security stack environment into the overall design of solutions
  • Work with information assurance teams to ensure compliance to DoD standards to assist with providing accreditation artifacts

Requirements

  • Experience in systems engineering with a focus on network architecture
  • Strong knowledge of satellite communications and terrestrial networking
  • Proficiency in cloud integration and related technologies
  • Ability to develop system-level communications architectures
  • Experience with IP-specific communications planning
  • Strong analytical skills for conducting special analysis, modeling, and simulations
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to coordinate during system anomalies
  • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members
  • Familiarity with DoD standards and compliance requirements
