About the position

Cinteot is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Cyber System Engineer to join their Operations Team in Herndon, VA. This role focuses on maintaining system health, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system security while providing after-hours support on a rotational basis. The position requires strong technical skills in managing both on-prem and AWS systems, with a significant emphasis on Linux environments and large cluster management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system health and troubleshoot system problems.
• Maintain storage systems and ensure system security requirements are satisfied.
• Provide after-hours on-call/call-in support on a rotational basis.
• Create and maintain system scripts, patch and upgrade systems.
• Administer user accounts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience for Principal Cyber Systems Engineer.
• Bachelor's degree and 9 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 7 years of relevant experience OR a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience for Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer.
• Experience with managing systems both on-prem and in AWS.
• Experience managing and monitoring large clusters (>400 nodes) and applications both containerized and non-containerized.
• Strong Linux command line skills.
• Active TS/SCI CI Poly security clearance.
• Ability to obtain Security+CE certification before starting.

Nice-to-haves

• Technical experience and knowledge of distributed storage networks, routing, and application messaging frameworks.
• Demonstrated knowledge of analytical needs and requirements, query syntax, data flows, and traffic manipulation.
• Experience with Splunk Dashboards.
• Experience with NiFi, HA Proxy, Docker, Kubernetes, and ElasticSearch/OpenSearch.
• Experience with Certification & Accreditation processes.
