About the position

The Systems Engineer III position at Kforce involves providing first-line support for integrated hardware and software systems in a satellite production facility. This role requires collaboration with production, engineering, and IT teams to ensure the functionality and reliability of production automation systems, including custom automated test equipment and SCADA systems. The engineer will also assist in testing, troubleshooting, deployment, and commissioning of new systems, contributing to the overall performance and safety of the factory environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide first line support for integrated hardware and software on production automation systems, including custom automated test equipment and SCADA systems.
• Conduct thorough testing of integrated production systems to identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring proper functionality and reliability.
• Document all issues and communicate effectively with technical engineering team members.
• Assist development team with the bring-up of new systems, including programming and configuration.
• Provide feedback to development teams to help maintain a high-performing and safe factory.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information/Engineering Technology, or relevant education and experience.
• Experience with installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting OT equipment.
• Network knowledge.
• DevOps experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Python programming skills.
• Experience developing software that directly interacts with hardware.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet-based industrial protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, etc.).
• Working knowledge of fieldbus protocols such as Profinet and CAN.
• Knowledge of security best practices (encryption in transit, encryption at rest, establishing chains of trust, etc.).
• Knowledge of using version control systems such as Git.
• Knowledge in different web technologies and data formats (i.e. HTTP/HTTPS, JSON/XML).
• Cross-organizational communication skills.
