About the position

The Systems Engineer for Infrastructure Operations plays a critical role in managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, focusing on storage area networks, virtual computing environments, data storage technologies, and network security. This position requires a hands-on approach to ensure the availability of services and efficient operations, along with strong project management skills to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Administers systems and servers related to Safe Horizon's LAN and WAN, including email systems, accounts, print queue, workstation ID, IP assignments, and VOIP.
  • Installs network software on various platforms to upgrade and maintain WAN/LAN and Telecommunication systems.
  • Assists in overseeing the organization and operation of the Network Operations Center, ensuring availability of materials and monitoring temperature.
  • Maintains network operations and software applications, including servers, operating systems, and routine maintenance programs.
  • Maintains wireless network (WLAN).
  • Manages project migrations for hardware/software systems.
  • Prepares written materials to document activities and convey information.
  • Researches trends and products for recommending procedures and purchases, providing technical assistance and support.
  • Supports Technology Specialists and System Support Specialists in solving technical problems.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions of network hardware and software applications to resolve operational issues.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years' experience with hardware and software installation and maintenance in a PC LAN/WAN environment.
  • Extensive experience with SMTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ACLs, firewalls, routing, NAT, VPNs, and remote access technologies.
  • Experience with configuring, maintaining, and supporting Cisco Call Manager, Unified Communication, and VoIP telephony.
  • Certifications such as MCSE or on Cisco products preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HP blade systems and HP Left hand SAN.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, MS Exchange, VMWare, and SharePoint.
