Systems Engineer Intern

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity in our Hughes Network Systems division for a Systems Engineer Intern. This position will be located at our Germantown, MD office. Responsibilities: * Provide technical support to manage large service provider networks * Install, configure, maintain network services, equipment, and devices * Design, implement, troubleshoot, and manage routing and switching of Enterprise Customers' terrestrial networks * Create, document, and complete system testing to qualify new software releases * Document network diagrams for future reference * Requires monitoring and troubleshooting of platform and OS based problems, network infrastructure and connectivity issues Basic Requirements: * Currently pursuing a degree in Networking, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field. * 3.0 GPA or above * 60 credit hours or more by start of internship, June 2025 Preferred Qualifications: * Technical knowledge of Cisco IOS, IOS-XR, Forti OS, API scripting, Wireshark * Knowledgeable in configuration management tools such as Ansible and proven experience with Python to support developing scripts * Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems * Understanding of network infrastructure, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, ARP, VLAN), and services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, VPNs, SD-WAN) * Good customer service and communications skills (written and oral) * Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies * Must have the ability to effectively multi-task * Knowledge of Cisco ACI/APIC, VMWare, KVM products is a plus Compensation Range Annual Salary: $49,000.00 - $70,000.00 EchoStar is committed to offering a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
