About the position

The Systems Engineer IV - Network Infrastructure role at Spectrum focuses on leading the planning, design, development, and implementation of innovative application and platform solutions related to network security and infrastructure. This position is crucial for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of Spectrum's network operations, enhancing customer experience through operational excellence. The role involves collaboration with various teams to adopt best practices and improve operational procedures in a complex back office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, development, implementation, and execution of application and platform solutions related to network routing infrastructure and service delivery.
  • Support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Design, deploy, manage, and ensure stability of the application and platform ecosystem and related back office infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate competence in IT operations, application monitoring, deployment, and configuration management.
  • Represent the Engineering Department in designing and implementing new technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve major network issues.
  • Assist in design and operational efficiencies as business objectives evolve.
  • Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, and testing to ensure quality delivery.
  • Mentor and train other Engineering personnel in networking systems.
  • Research and identify technology opportunities for the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum six (6) years of System or Server Administration experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in personal computer and software applications.
  • Knowledge of Linux and Unix systems.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure technologies such as AWS, OpenStack, and ElasticCloud.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and perform in a fast-paced setting.
  • Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools for operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of company products and services.
  • Experience with Oracle and Splunk.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking standards and protocols (IEEE, ANSI, etc.).
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • Juniper Network Certified Specialist (JNCIS or JNCIP) certification.
